In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re talking about LOVE… and money!  Upwards of 75% of divorcing couples cite money issues as a contributing factor for the break up of the relationship.  The good news is that if you and your spouse or partner communicate regularly about money, you’ll increase the odds of having a rock solid relationship.  I’ll talk about ways to take off the boxing gloves and get on the same page with your significant other when it come to personal finance.

It’s definitely important to discuss financial issues with your spouse/partner! I am so glad my husband and I have great communication and agree on things when it comes to this!

We didn’t have any money when we first met and we still don’t! But we make it work. As long as we have a roof over our heads and a car to get him to work, I think we’re doing ok!

Money – or lack thereof – can definitely be a point of contention in a relationship. I agree with Robin that it’s a “slippery slope”. It’s definitely important to be on the same page when it comes to finances.

Money was one of our biggest stressors which led to other problems, and my husband and I almost went through a divorce because of it. One of the worst most destructive problems a couple can go through.
