Tis the Season for Emotional Spending
Emotional spending peaks in the month of December when we’re doing our holiday shopping. In this video, I share tips on how to keep Santa from emptying your wallet!
- Be mindful of your emotional spending triggers. Do others in your family pressure you to spend more than you’d planned? Are you buying extra presents for your kids because you’re trying to make up for not spending as much time with them as you should?
- Make a list and stick to it like glue! Write down the names of the people you are buying for and a dollar limit for each of them.
- Shop around for the best deals! Use coupons both in the store and online. Also consider using a cash-back shopping website like Ebates.
- Give creatively! Many people would prefer a night of babysitting, an hour of snow-shovelling, or other labor of love over more stuff.
